How to apply for a Food License in Kolkata
Food businesses operating in Kolkata may require an FSSAI Registration or Licence under the applicable food-safety regulations. Applications are submitted through the official FoSCoS portal.
Types of FSSAI Registration and Licence
- FSSAI Basic Registration: Generally applicable to eligible small food businesses with an annual turnover of up to ₹1.5 crore.
- FSSAI State Licence: Generally applicable to eligible food businesses with an annual turnover above ₹1.5 crore and up to ₹50 crore.
- FSSAI Central Licence: Generally applicable to eligible businesses with an annual turnover above ₹50 crore.
FSSAI Application Process
- Visit the official FoSCoS portal.
- Select the appropriate kind of business and licence category.
- Complete the online application.
- Upload the applicable documents.
- Pay the prescribed government fee directly through the official portal.
- Respond to any clarification and document request requirements raised by the authority.
- The concerned authority may request clarifications or additional information between 1 and 10 times during the application process, depending on the case requirements.
